The HMWS&SB, in coordination with ASCI, will conduct a comprehensive house-to-house survey to collect information on water and sewerage connections in 12 surrounding municipal circles of Hyderabad soon.
The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) in coordination with the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) will conduct a comprehensive house-to-house survey to collect information on water and sewerage connections in 12 surrounding municipal circles soon.
The Water Board, which had taken over water supply to then municipalities L B Nagar, Kukatpally and Qutubullapur in 1996, was later directed by the government to oversee water supply to nine other municipal circles, including Rajendranagar, Serilingampally, Kapra, Malkajgiri, Alwal, Uppal, Ramachandrapuram, Patancheru and Gaddiannaram in 2007.
After the joint deal, it was agreed that the operations would commence from 2009. Accordingly, the
Water Board is now supplying 82.47 million gallons a day (MGD) to 12 surrounding municipal circles. The Water Board is issuing water bills directly to the municipal circles to collect the amounts.
"According to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) records, there are nearly seven lakh connections, including domestic and commercial, spread across 12 municipal circles. When compared with our record, there is a mismatch in figures. Moreover, the Water Board has no records either on water supply or sewerage network," HMWS&SB executive director K Ashok Reddy told TOI.
