Sewage mining or sewage treatment could help save the BWSSB around half of its revenue, says M N Thippeswamy, retired Chief Engineer of the Water Board.
Sewage mining or sewage treatment, the process of retrieving water through purification for further use, could help save the BWSSB around half of its revenue, M.N. Thippeswamy, retired Chief Engineer of the Water Board, has said.
At a discussion, 'Integrated approach for water recycling for sustainability', organised by the Institution of Engineers here on Tuesday, he said a significant amount of the board's revenue was spent on pumping water to the city from distant locations. The need of the hour was public awareness coupled with government mandates.
