New Delhi, May 19
The Union Government has approved a Rs 1357.71 crore project for clean-up of Yamuna in the Capital, by laying three interceptor sewers on major drains which eject wastewater into the river.

"The Cabinet Committee on Infrastructure today approved the project proposal for laying interceptor sewer along Najafgarh, Supplementary and Shahdara drains for abatement of pollution in Yamuna river at a cost of Rs 1357.71 crore", Union Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy told reporters after the CCI meeting here this evening.

Wastewater from 190 sub-drains flows into these three major drains before ejecting into the river.
