Jamnagar is one of the six major cities of Gujarat state having the status of "Municipal Corporation", and in recent years, the activities of commerce and industries are increasing demands for improved urban basic services. Since the last 20 years, Jamnagar Municipal Corporation (JMC) has been supplying about 86 lpcd water on alternate days only, which is very low compared to the actual demand of the city. The city is facing an acute scarcity of drinking water. The age-old distribution network of the city is leading to the wastage of water.

To mitigate the above condition JMC had prepared a water works master plan 2036, and works were divided into two phases, amounting to Rs. 40 crores.

• Appointed a national level consultant through a bidding process.
• Municipal Corporation had supplied all require data and consultancy also carried out the surveys.
• Then conceptual plan was prepared, which was approved by JMC and also by GUDM at state level then JMC applied to CLSC for grant under UIDSSMT scheme.
• Draft development plan was prepared. Before starting the work JMC took permissions from various relevant departments.
• After starting the phase-I of the master plan scheme was sanctioned under UIDSSMT.
• Before sanctioning the DPR, ULB has to develop internal infrastructure by implementing mandatory and optional reform agenda.

• Raised the living standard of the people
• Saving in the energy by using sophisticated electrical and mechanical system
• Improved health and hygiene conditions of citizens
