In the context of 24X7 water supply, Chandernagore Municipal Corporation has initiated the project although the municipality had continuous water supply in the past (50 years ago). The municipality wanted to retrieve the model that worked efficiently in the past.
The implementation process of the entire scheme includes the following.

• A total of 6.5 mgd water supply is ensured
• Construction of 3 UGR and 3 OHR
• Construction of plate settler technology treatment plant
• Re-orientation of water supply distribution system
• Metering and pricing policy has been adopted by CMC
• The metered supply was started at Rs. 1,000 only, where the meter cost was borne by the customer
• Subsidy to poor and BPL

• 100% metering will be done till the year 2008-09.
• Slum dwellers are being provided water connections with meters, and enjoy the BPL facility.
